LISTEN FOR GOD'S VOICE IN ALL YOU DO

Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track. - Proverbs 3:6

REFLECTION

If something is wrong with your car that you can't fix, you need a mechanic. If you have a question about Minecraft, ask your son, daughter, niece, or nephew. There are a lot of amazing people in the world who have experience and access to incredible knowledge. But the One who created all things understands every detail about every part of life.

Proverbs 3:6 says, "Listen for God's voice in everything you do." This reminds me that there is no part of my life I should keep secret from God. First of all, that isn't even possible. He knows my thoughts better than I do. He is also the only one with a big enough perspective to consider all angles of a particular course of action. An idea that seems good to me at the moment might end up being a huge mistake. From my limited perspective, I won't know it's a mistake until I'm swimming in the consequences.

We usually think of the Lord's commands as a list of "do's and don'ts" that limit our choices in life. And they are. But don't don't overlook the fact that so many choices in this life are harmful--sometimes to the point of being lethal. God's desire to guide us and "keep us on the right track" is an act of love. So if you have a question about anything (and I mean anything), start by asking the One who loves you and is willing and able to help.

LIVE INSPIRED

I'm guessing you think there are parts of your life that are too mundane or too messy to talk about with God. I know because I think that too, sometimes. But it's not true. Read some of the passages by David in Psalms. He talked to the Lord about everything. Which is probably why God called him a man after his own heart.
